Listen to “I Am the One”

A young man drives a tractor
Plowing fields throughout the day
Heat and cold don’t really matter
‘Cause he needs to make his pay
But he knows when Friday comes ’round
He’ll pull out that old fiddle bow
He’ll set the crowd to stompin’ loud
When he plays that country show
So he grabs his old fiddle
And then he heads out to town
If you rode there beside him
You’d hear him hum that fiddle sound
He says look at all the ladies
Out there dancin’, havin’ fun
If I’m a lucky man someday
Some girl will want to be the one.
Now it’s fifty years later
His wife beside him every day
He hums as he awaits her
Remembering that fateful day
That beautiful young dancer
Who was out dancin’ on the town
She gave to him her simple answer
And then he laid his fiddle down
They looked at one another
And both said “I am the one”
